From Motherhood to Entrepreneurship: Aarti's Journey

Aarti Keshwani Negi
Founder & CEO
Culturama was founded by Aarti Keshwani Negi, a passionate mother and entrepreneur who recognized the need for an affordable, sustainable way to buy and sell ethnic kids' wear. After leaving her 9-to-5 job at a Fortune 500 Company to focus on her family, Aarti combined her love for culture, sustainability, and business to create Culturama. With a mission to provide desi and other multicultural communities with a platform for pre-loved, accessible, and affordable ethnic clothing and other cultural items, Aarti is dedicated to bringing communities together while promoting eco-friendly practices. Every item at Culturama is carefully selected and curated with care, reflecting her commitment to both style and sustainability.

"At Culturama, we believe in community, culture, and conscious living. Every outfit has a story, and we’re here to help those stories continue."

My Journey
After having my second baby a year and a half ago, I left my 9-5 job at a Fortune 500 company to focus on spending more time with my family. As my little one grew, I once again realized how quickly kids outgrow clothes—some barely worn! I also had my daughter’s beautiful lehengas, which I tried to sell on local marketplace groups with no luck. While searching for a consignment option especially for ethnic kids' clothing, I couldn’t find anything! That’s when it clicked to me—we all need this. Desi parents, our community, need this. After all, culture is close to our hearts—it brings us together and sparks joy, especially amongst young, growing kids.

While we initially planned to focus on kids' ethnic wear to help families with growing children who quickly outgrow their beautiful clothes, we have now expanded to include ethnic wear for all ages, making cultural fashion more accessible and sustainable for everyone.

I’m also a firm believer that clothes should be reused whenever possible, as it helps care for the planet and teaches our kids the same values.

And that’s how Culturama was born!
